The new Recreation Centre provides leisure and recreation opportunities to suit the needs of the current and future population that are designed to increase community participation and a better quality of life.
The Recreation Centre is the sporting hub of Narembeen. With tennis courts, football and hockey ovals and a cricket pitch making outdoor sport a real breeze. Two new synthetic bowling greens were completed in March 2016 and compliment this facility.
The Narembeen Recreation Centre is a multi purpose recreation facility, is fully licensed to cater for conferences, sporting club events and community social events.
The Recreation Centre showcases the Narembeen Hawk (pictured above). The Hawk has an impressive 2.5m wingspan and includes 1,000 individually cut feathers, it took 260 hours to complete. The sculpture includes metal collected from around the district, with some metal dating back to the early settlers of Narembeen.
Chris Jackson, CEO Shire of Narembeen said “We’re proud to showcase a local artist’s inspirational creation as a centrepiece to this magnificent facility.”
The Hawk was unveiled at the opening of the Narembeen Recreation Centre 29th April 2016, CEO Mr Chris Jackson said “The Narembeen Hawk is the culmination of our celebrations and all that this magnificent facility has to offer to the community”.
