Waste Collection
Recycling Information
Recycling in Narembeen is carried out by the Lions club. Recyclable goods can be left at the recycling centre located in front of the Goods Shed, Latham Road Narembeen.
Tin Cans are collected by the Buffs Lodge 101 and all money raised from this venture goes towards a Buffs Christmas Picnic held in December of each year for the children of the district.
Kerbside Recycling
At the April Council meeting it was decided to accept a tender from Avon Waste to provide a kerbside recycling service in conjunction with the normal kerbside pickup service. The new service is part of Council's refuse site location to Bendering in conjunction with the Shires of Corrigin, Kondinin and Kulin.
Your 240L recycling bin will be collected on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month (if there are 5 Tuesday's in any one month, recycling will not be collected on the fifth Tuesday). Information on what is allowed to be placed into the recycling bins will be sent out to all residents in the coming weeks but is also available from the Shire Office. With the introduction of the recycling service your current green will be reduced from 240 litre to 140 litre. From the Shire of Corrigin's experience this has proven adequate when the recycle bin is used correctly. Click here to download a calendar for the collection dates.
There will be an additional charge for this service but Council has an obligation to introduce significant recycling initiatives. The opportunity to join with the other 3 Shires will save Council significant funds in providing a waste management service into the future.
