Grant Opportunity - Powering Communities

Grants of $5,000 to $12,000 are available to help not-for-profit community organisations reduce energy use, improve energy productivity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Up to 12 projects in each federal electorate will be funded to a total value of $67,700.

Who is eligible?

Organisations must have an ABN and be either an incorporated not-for-profit or an incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust with responsibility for a community asset or property.

 

What can the grant be used for?

The grant can be used for:

  • energy generation projects including solar photovoltaic panels and battery storage
  • new split system air conditioners to replace some older types of units
  • solar and heat pump bathroom and kitchen hot water heaters to replace older units
  • replacement of non-LED lighting with LED lighting
  • control upgrades for air-conditioning and lighting
  • appliance replacements including induction cooktops and commercial refrigeration
  • other activities including energy audits and installing metering equipment.

 

How do I express interest?

Expressions of interest close at 5pm on Friday 18 June 2021. Late applications will not be accepted.

A local committee will consider organisations and nominate projects. The Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources will then contact nominated organisations to invite them to apply for a Powering Communities Program grant.
