CEACA Expansion Project - A significant investment in housing for our Wheatbelt communities

The Shire of Narembeen welcomes the announcement of a major new housing investment that will deliver 54 new two-bedroom social homes for seniors across 17 Wheatbelt locations through the Central East Accommodation and Care Alliance (CEACA).

As highlighted in the Western Australian Government’s announcement, the 54 new seniors’ social homes represent the largest delivery of modular social homes by a community housing provider in Western Australian history, enabled by more than $27 million in grant funding from the Cook State and Albanese Federal Governments.

As a proud member of CEACA, the Shire is particularly pleased that four of these new homes will be constructed in Narembeen. This is a fantastic outcome for our community, providing more opportunities for local seniors to remain in their home town, close to family, friends, services and the community connections they have built over many years.

The Shire has supported the project by gifting Lot 104 Currall Street for CEACA housing development, helping make these additional homes in Narembeen possible.

The new homes will be built to Silver Liveable Housing Australia standards, providing accessible, fit-for-purpose housing that supports seniors to age in place. Construction of the modular homes is commencing this month, with installation scheduled to begin later this year.

For communities like Narembeen, this investment is about much more than bricks and mortar. It helps our seniors remain part of the communities they know and love while strengthening the long-term sustainability of our Wheatbelt towns.

The Shire acknowledges CEACA, the Australian and Western Australian Governments, our fellow member Shires and everyone involved in bringing this significant regional housing project to fruition.
