The Shire of Narembeen covers an area of 3,812km and comprises of four localities:-
- Mt Arrowsmith
- Mt Walker
- Narembeen
- South Kumminin
The town itself has a supermarket, post office, pharmacy, hardware, hotel, hairdresser, bank, police station, voluntary emergency services, caravan park, motel, transport, engineering and agriculture related businesses, carpenter, panel beater and roadhouse.

Narembeen boasts great recreation facilities, including a Recreation Centre which was officially opened in April 2016. Narembeen thrives on sport. Active clubs within the district include football, hockey, cricket, netball, tennis, golf, bowls and more. The Narembeen Aquatic Centre hosts swimming lessons, an Amateur Swimming Club and family recreation space. The Shire has a range of community organisations, including but not limited to the Go Narembeen Progress Association, Lions Club, Community Shed, religious organisations and the Historical Society.
The Narembeen Medical Centre has hosted a permanent GP for more than 15 years. It also hosts a visiting female GP, primary health services including a Child Health Nurse, Dietician, Diabetic Educator, Chiropractor, Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist. The Medical Centre is supported by a Dentist and District Hospital which provides services in ante/post natal care, emergency, geriatric, medical-acute, medical-general, paediatrics and palliative care. It also hosts visiting primary health services including an occupational therapist, physiotherapist, counsellors and a podiatrist.
Narembeen District High School hosts students from K-10, it is a high performing rural school priding itself on ensuring every student reaches their potential. It has a long history of both academic and sporting success and continues to produce quality results in both national and state testing.
