Students learn about important places in our community

As part of HASS, the students are learning about important places in the Narembeen community and how they take care of these special places.

The students and teachers decided  that cleaning the War Memorial would be a great way of caring for their community.

Throughout the cleaning activity, the students were educated about the war memorials heritage and it gave the students a chance to reflect and talk about past community members who fought for us during the war.

Joanne Cheetham, teacher said “the activity was great, now the students will understand more about the memorial and they can have some ownership of it, rather than just driving past and not knowing the true meaning of the memorial.”

Following all of the hard work that was undertaken, the students enjoyed a cool, refreshing icy pole from IGA.

The Shire of Narembeen would like to acknowledge the hard work of the students who scrubbed the war memorial and their teachers Mrs Cheetham and Mrs Tenardi for co-ordinating the activity.
